Abstract(s)
Objectivo: Cerca de 5% a 10% das pessoas que recorrem aos serviços de psicologia/
psicoterapia, se encontram pior no final do processo psicoterapêutico. A psicoterapia
apesar de comprovadamente eficaz ainda apresenta lacunas neste sentido. Como tal,
mais estudos são necessários acerca dos motivos que estão na base desta realidade.
Assim sendo, este estudo teve como objectivo perceber do ponto de vista do cliente,
que características do terapeuta podem estar associadas a eventos indesejáveis em
psicoterapia.
Método: Foi construído um questionário constituído por seis perguntas de
questionamento aberto como forma de apreender com maior rigor a realidade dos
eventos indesejáveis. Este questionário foi, por sua vez, foi disponibilizado em
plataformas online sendo que o estudo contou com a participação de 45 participantes.
De seguida, os dados foram analisados com recurso à análise de dados qualitativa
grounded theory
Resultados: Verificou-se que características do terapeuta estão associadas aos eventos
indesejáveis, sendo que estas relacionam-se por um lado com factores relacionais e por
outro lado com competências profissionais. Ademais, os eventos indesejáveis tiveram
impacto a nível da percepção dos clientes da psicoterapia e como forma de lidar com
os mesmos, os participantes utilizaram estratégias de afastamento como o dropout.
Conclusões: Mais estudos são necessários na investigação dos eventos indesejáveis
em psicoterapia sendo o terapeuta uma variável importante neste fenómeno.

Psychotherapy though efficient, continues to present gaps. As such, more studies are needed to understand the reasons underlying this reality. Thus, this study aimed to detect from the client's point of view, which may be the therapist characteristics associated with undesirable events in psychotherapy. Method: An online questionnaire, constituted of six open questions, was made as a way of understanding in more detail the reality of undesirable events in psychotherapy. This study counted with the participation of 45 people. Data were analyzed through grounded theory qualitative method of analysis. Results: Therapist characteristics associated with undesirable events are related with both relationship factors and professional skills. Undesirable events had impact on the way participants perceive psychotherapy and as a way to deal with this phenomenon, participant utilized distance strategies as dropout. Conclusions: More studies are necessary related with undesirable events in psychotherapy considering the therapist an important variable.
