ABSTRACT: This report presents a study on the importance of family involvement in the children's educational process, namely in preschool age, driven by the need to deepen a relevant topic and of interest to all educational agents. It takes place in an educational institution that favors the model and curricular approach of the Modern School Movement, in a room with a heterogeneous group, from three to five years of age. The research objectives and questions emerged from personal interest and curiosity in investigating the relevance and benefits of family involvement in children's educational process. Thus, the following points were defined as objectives: i) to know the type of relationship that can be established between the educational institution and the family; ii) acquire strategies to use in future professional practice; iii) knowing the benefits of family involvement for children of pre-school age; and iv) acquire tools for communication and relationship of trust with families in favor of a holistic child development. In this study, a qualitative methodology was used and several instruments as such – observation, interview and questionnaires to the families. It was concluded that: using Joyce Epstein's Sphere Model, there are several weaknesses in the construction of school-family trust partnerships; there are many benefits of effective family involvement, for children, families, school and community; and, further, that the different family’s structures do not condition participation in the educational context, nor the strategies of family involvement.
