ABSTRACT: There is a need for deepening our understanding of narcotics traffic within a criminal context, namely regarding the personality and overall characteristics of subjects who commit this type of crime. The aims of this work are (1) to identify whether or not these subjects present antisocial personality disorder traits, i.e. psychopathy, (2) to identify general re-incidence risk-evaluating factors, focusing on subjects convicted of narcotics traffic crimes. To this end, the Hare semi-structured interview and PCL-R interview methods were used, in 20 individuals serving a sentence of effective prison, and the results indicated that some of the analyzed subjects do present psychopathic personality traits, whilst others present psychopathy. As for the re-incidence risk analysis, it was found that some factors were more prominent than others, e.g. history of antisocial behavior, antisocial pairs, family history, school/work, social status, gravity of the crime, amongst others.
