ABSTRACT: The present study investigated the effect of a Phonological Training Program on the ability to learn how to read Program of children with learning disabilities attending the second year of formal schooling, in pairs at the level of reading and writing. An experimental investigation was performed involving a total of 18 participants divided in two groups, an experimental group which was subjected to the phonological training and a control group. Phonological consciousness and reading fluency were evaluated on the pre and post-test of. The phonological training program main objective was to take children to acquire the ability to identify initial phonemes in different words with figurative support. The results indicated that the phonological training program was effective, given that the progress in reading fluency was higher in the group subjected to the program, which shows that this type of programs seem to be one of the strategies that could be implemented with children with reading and writing disabilities.
