| dc.description.abstract | O que é na verdade nascer no corpo errado e ver a sua identidade de género trocada? Como é ver-se obrigado a desempenhar um papel de género contrário ao seu? A transexualidade é caracterizada como o desejo de viver e ser visto como pertencendo ao sexo oposto, geralmente acompanhado de uma vontade de transformar o corpo. Esta transformação tem como objectivo libertar a pessoa do enorme desconforto que sente em relação ao seu corpo mas também vai ter repercussões a nível físico, psicológico e social, provocando desta forma várias alterações na vida da pessoa transexual que a obrigam a desenvolver estratégias de adaptação. O objectivo deste estudo visa compreender a experiência subjectiva da pessoa transexual antes, durante e após o seu processo de transformação, dando primazia à temática da discriminação. O delineamento metodológico foi do tipo qualitativo, com uma amostra constituída por 2 participantes transexuais (um feminino - masculino e um masculino - feminino) com 52 e 36 anos respectivamente. Sendo o instrumento utilizado a entrevista e o processo para o tratamento de informação a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados demonstram a existência de diversas dificuldades com as quais os transexuais se deparam ao longo do seu processo de transformação e consequentes efeitos psicológicos e sociais, nomeadamente mal-estar, tristeza, ansiedade, frustração, isolamento; e incompreensão. Seria pertinente replicar este estudo no futuro, atendendo às limitações encontradas. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | What does it mean to be born in the wrong body and having your gender identity exchanged? How’s like to be forced to play a gender role opposite to one's own? Transsexuality translates into the desire of living and be seen as belonging to the opposite gender, and, usually present along with it, the strong urge to change one's body. This transformation primarily suits the purpose of freeing the individual from the enormous discomfort felt in relation to his body, and has its own set of repercussions on the physical, psychological and social levels which in turn induce drastic changes in the life of the transsexual individual, forcing him to develop adaptation strategies. This essay's objective is to understand the subjective experience of the transsexual individual before, during and after his process of transformation, focusing on discrimination. The methodological approach was a qualitative one, with a participation of two individuals (one self-identified female-to-male with 52 years old and one self-identified male-to-female with 36 years old). The instrument used was an interview and the corresponding information was processed by means of content analysis. The results are testimony to the difficulties with which transsexuals face along their process of transformation and the social and psychological consequences that ensue, wich are disconfort, sadness, anxiety, frustration, isolation and misunderstanding. Attending to the limitations found it would prove useful to further the essay in the future. | pt_PT |
