Infidelidade própria e na família de origem: exploração de efeitos protetores das consequências ao nível do funcionamento sexual feminino

| dc.description.abstract | O presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar o efeito de eventos negativos no funcionamento sexual de mulheres adultas. Deu-se particular atenção ao conhecimento de infidelidade, tanto no sistema conjugal do próprio, como na família de origem. Simultaneamente, foram explorados possíveis fatores protetores e potenciadores ao nível individual e diádico. Para tal, investigou-se o possível papel moderador da diferenciação do self na relação entre infidelidade e o funcionamento sexual feminino, bem como um efeito moderador do coping diádico positivo e negativo nesta mesma relação. Este estudo contou com 518 participantes do género feminino com idade superior a 18 anos. Os resultados mostram que não houve efeito principal entre os diferentes tipos de infidelidade e o funcionamento sexual feminino. No que respeita à diferenciação do self, encontraram-se apenas efeitos principais no funcionamento sexual feminino, não sendo significativa a moderação. Os resultados mostraram ainda que as estratégias de coping diádico moderaram duplamente a relação entre infidelidade e funcionamento sexual feminino. Especificamente quando se observam níveis mais baixos de coping diádico positivo combinados com níveis médios ou elevados de coping diádico negativo, existe uma relação negativa entre a infidelidade e o funcionamento sexual feminino. Esta relação é invertida, quando o coping diádico positivo é alto e o negativo é baixo. Os resultados são discutidos, enquanto são apontadas limitações, propostos estudos futuros e apresentadas implicações clínicas. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: The aim of the present research was to investigate the effect of negative events on female sexual functioning of adult women. Particular attention was given to knowledge of infidelity, both within the individual's marital system and in the family of origin. Simultaneously, possible protective and enhancing factors at the individual and dyadic level were explored. We investigated the possible moderating role of differentiation of self in the relationship between infidelity and female sexual functioning, as well as a moderating effect of positive and negative dyadic coping in this same relationship. This study included 518 female participants over the age of 18. The results show that there was no main effect between the different types of infidelity and female sexual functioning. Regarding the differentiation of the self, only main effects were found on female sexual functioning, with no significant moderation. The results also showed that dyadic coping strategies doubly moderated the relationship between infidelity and female sexual functioning. Specifically, when observing lower levels of positive dyadic coping combined with medium or high levels of negative dyadic coping, there is a negative relationship between infidelity and female sexual functioning. This relationship is inverted when positive dyadic coping is high and negative dyadic coping is low. The results are discussed, while limitations are highlighted, future studies are proposed, and clinical implications are presented. | pt_PT |
