ABSTRACT: The present investigation focuses on the understanding the client’s perspective of significant therapeutic events within existential therapy, articulating a phenomenological interview with the phenomenological analysis of A. Giorgi (2009) - it appears to be the fourth published study within this specific field. Three adult ex-clients of existential therapy were interviewed about their perception of significant therapeutic episodes. All participants describe their therapeutic experience as successful and emphasize that at the base of a positive experience is an articulation between a knowing/ competent/ power invested therapist and his ability to establish a humanized/ substantial/ authentic therapeutic alliance. Furthermore, clients highlight the importance of neutrality/ impartiality, the validation of their subjective/ emotional experience and the invitation to a cooperative approach. Also, for two of the three participants, therapist disclosure and therapist interventions that stimulate insight and cognitive restructuring constitute powerful contributes for therapeutic success.
