Abstract(s)
O estudo investigou a relação
A dor
ABSTRACT: Endometriosis is a chronic condition that affects around 10% of women of reproductive age and has a significant impact on both physical and mental health. This study investigated the implications of pain associated with endometriosis on the quality of life and self-image of these women. A quantitative approach was used, including specific questionnaires to assess the pain, quality of life, and self-image of 106 women aged between 18 and 52 (M= 33.54; SD= 7.43), diagnosed with endometriosis. The results showed that pain is directly related to deterioration in quality of life and low self-image. The study investigated the relationship between self-image, pain and quality of life in women with endometriosis, explaining 52% of the variance in quality of life through a mediation model. Chronic pain had a direct and negative effect on quality of life. Self-image also influenced quality of life. It is concluded that both pain and self-image appear to be crucial in the perception of well-being, suggesting the need for an integrated therapeutic approach. In conclusion, the level of pain felt by women diagnosed with endometriosis is negatively associated with their level of quality of life, and the perception of self-image is negatively associated with the level of pain felt and positively associated with the level of quality of life of women.
