Abstract(s)
Efectuou-se um levantamento das necessidades,
preferências, e níveis de satisfação de uma amostra de
indivíduos Sem-Abrigo face a vários serviços sociais.
De uma forma prospectiva, analisou-se ainda a influência
de vários factores na utilização desses serviços.
A recolha de dados realizou-se num abrigo da cidade
de Lisboa junto de 16 indivíduos do sexo masculino
através de uma observação participante, da utilização
de um questionário, e da consulta de registos internos
da instituição. Os serviços indicados como sendo os
mais necessários no Último ano foram os relacionados
com a obtenção de alimentação, vestuário, e abrigo,
identificação e avaliação de necessidades, assistência
médica (para problemas de saúde física), informação e
protecção de direitos, emprego e cuidados dentários. A
maior parte dos participantes considerou que a maioria
dos serviços não iam ao encontro das suas necessidades.
Consideraram ainda que os técnicos não se empenhavam
o suficiente. Os resultados obtidos, apontam
para a necessidade de desenvolver sistemas de apoio
que se adaptem às necessidades, às especificidades e
aos «ritmos» da população Sem-Abrigo
ABSTRACT: This article consists on a needs, preferences, and levels of satisfaction assessment of a sample of homeless persons with several services in the community. In a prospective form the influence of several factors in the use of those services has also been studied. The data collection took place in a Lisbon shelter by screening 16 homeless men. Data were collected during a pariicipant observation, through a questionnaire and by the consultation of internai documents. The services who’s need was more frequently pointed out by the participants, concerning the previous year, was help getting food, clothing, and shelter, assessment of their needs for services, medical care (for physical health problems), information and protection of own rights, employment, and dental care. Most participants did not recognize service’s ability to help them. They consider professional’s commitment as being insufficient. The results gathered, point out to the need of developing support systems that are adaptable to the needs, specificity’s and «timings» of lhe homeless population.
