O envolvimento do pai nas competências sociais de crianças em idade pré-escolar

Abstract(s)
O presente estudo teve como objetivo, analisar a relação entre o envolvimento do pai e
os seus efeitos nas competências sociais de crianças em idade pré-escolar.
Na realidade existem diferenças, estudadas e documentadas, entre a natureza e o estilo
de comportamento materno e paterno na interação com a criança (Lewis & Lamb,2008).
Alguns estudos indicam que um maior envolvimento do pai poderá estar correlacionado ou
não, com as melhores competências sociais da criança.
Os participantes foram 609 crianças em idade pré-escolar, os seus respetivos pais e
educadora. Os dados referentes ao Envolvimento foram recolhidos através da Escala de
Envolvimento Parental: Participação em Atividades de Cuidados e de Socialização (Monteiro,
Veríssimo & Pessoa e Costa, 2008). Os dados relativos à Competência Social foram
recolhidos junto da educadora e pais, através da Escala de Competência Social e de Avaliação
do Comportamento – SCBE – 30 (LaFreniere e Dumas, 1996).
Os resultados relativos aos cuidados (diretos e indiretos) são maioritariamente
desempenhados pela figura materna. Nas restantes dimensões, Ensino/Disciplina, Brincadeira
e Lazer no Exterior, serão as tarefas onde haverá maior partilha de prestação de cuidados
entre pai e mãe, havendo até alguns pais que pensam ser eles os que mais se encarregam pela
dimensão brincadeira.
ABSTRACT: The present study had the goal of analysing the relation between father involvement and its effects in children's social skills in preschool age. In fact there are existing differences studied and documented, between the nature and style of maternal and paternal behavior and style of interaction towards children (Lewis & Lamb,2008). Some studies indicate that a greater father involvement migth or not be correlated with better infant social skills. The participants were 609 children in preschool age, their parentes and their teacher. The data referring to Father Involvement were collected through the Scale of Father Involvement: Participation in Activities of Caring and Socialization (Monteiro,Veríssimo & Pessoa e Costa,2008). The data related to Social Skills were collected directly from the parents and the teacher, through the Scale of Social Skills and Behavior Evaluations - SCBE - 30 ( La Freniere & Dumas,1996). The results related to the Caring Activities (Direct and Indirect) shown that they are provided mainly by the mother. In all the other dimensions Teaching/Discipline, Play and Leisure in the outdoor there is a shared participation from both mother and father although most fathers claim and believe its them who participate more.
