Abstract(s)
Problem: There is a lack of psychometric measures that assess the readiness of an individual to enter a therapeutic group. It is, for this reason, important to have questionnaires that measure this concept, so the therapy groups are more beneficial, increasing, therefore, the positive results and the welfare for each person of the therapy group. Purpose: Hence, the purpose of this investigation is to validate the Group Readiness Questionnaire from the “OQ measures” (GRQ), by doing the translation to Portuguese and its validation, so it can start to be used for the Portuguese population. Method: In this study, the participants were 196 students, studying in different universities. Their ages range between 18 and 66 years (M = 21.71 years; DP = 5.134 years). Results: The results of the reliability analysis of the GRQ, found a Cronbach’s coefficient, of 0.787 for the total scale, and 0.61, 0.858 and 0.544, for the Expectancy, Participation and Demeanor subscales, respectively. The results obtained with the confirmatory factor analysis where satisfactory: χ2(149) = 473,926, B-S p=0.000; χ2/df = 3.18; PCFI = .63; PGFI = .61; CFI=.72; GFI=.78; TLI=.68; RMSEA=.106; 90% CI [.095 – .117]). It was observed that in general the GRQ demonstrated adequate psychometric properties and can be considered generalized to the non-clinical sample that was used, with a good instrument available to assess the readiness of the individuals to integrate a group.
