(RDAS; Thorson & Powell, 1994), avaliando as dimensões Ansiedade face à Inexistência (AI)
quarta idade revelaram menor SFS, menos AI e AFM. Os homens apresentaram maiores
níveis de SFS do que as mulheres.
Abstract The purpose of the present study was to test a structural model preditor of the influence of age (third vs fourth ages), gender, and Subjective Functional Health (SFH) in the Death Anxiety (DA). The sample was compose of 397 functional old adults, non-institutionalized, with ages between 65 and 97 years (M = 74) and residents in urbane areas. To assessed SFS was used the Scale of Subjective Functional Health (SSFS; Diniz, 2007). For the DA, was used the Revised Death Anxiety Scale (RDAS; Thorson and Powell, 1994), with two dimensions, Non-existence and Dying Process Anxiety, in accordance with the study of adaptation to the old portuguese population (Carvalho, Diniz & Ribeiro, 2008). The results point to a negative relation between SFH and preoccupation with Non-existence. However when the SFH was introduced like mediator of the relation between gender, age and DA, his influence was not found. Older participant reported less SFH, less preoccupation with Nonexistence and less Dying Process Anxiety. Men presented more functional health than women.
