Abstract(s)
In this work we reflect about some poems of Ângelo de Lima, from which we stand out A meu Pai (no santo dia dos finados), a poem that tells us about the loss of his father; Não tinha – Fria fria como o meu amor primeiro, a poem that tells us about his apathetic mother, who didn’t have affection to give. From Greens’s dead mother’s theory (1960), we tried to understand how the relation with his mother in mourning affected the poet’s development and how it may have been contributive for the mental disease. We also propose a reflection about how the mental disease may have affected his life and his work. For this analysis we assumed that the invented words, grammatical distortions and exaggerated punctuation were characteristics that emphases an attempt to express emotions he wanted to transmit as much as possible (Stern, 1992). We hypothesize that the psychic suffering of Ângelo de Lima had origin in the biding relation that he established with his mother (Bowlby, 1968) and on the traumatic event that the early death of his father was. We discuss about the importance of his work being mostly autobiographic (Artraud, 2011) and how it tried to be more than a symbolic representation, tried to be the real thing. Despite all significant losses and all psychic suffering, it was this familiar environment, historic and cultural, that led to the creation of Ângelo de Lima’s work.
