Este trabalho teve como objectivo optimizar a comunicação dos atletas de uma equipa de futebol no decorrer do jogo. Para esse propósito elaborou-se um instrumento que permitiu medir os comportamentos comunicacionais reais e observáveis no decorrer da competição.
Para desenvolver as capacidades comunicacionais dos jogadores formulou-se um plano de intervenções psicológicas que visavam aumentar os comportamentos de instrução técnica geral, encorajamento geral e instrução técnica após o erro, bem como diminuir o comportamento de punição. Estas metas foram definidas para as duas fases da competição.
Os resultados das análises efectuadas indicam que houve um aumento significativo do comportamento encorajamento geral no decorrer da primeira fase da competição.
No decorrer da segunda fase da competição, que tinha um nível de exigência competitiva maior, houve um aumento significativo do comportamento instrução técnica após o erro.
Os resultados obtidos indicam que o plano de intervenção poderá ter sido benéfico na mudança do perfil comunicacional dos jogadores, mas também aludem para influência que a exigência competitiva produz na comunicação dos atletas.
ABSTRACT: This study aimed to optimize the communication of athletes from a football team during the execution of the task. For this purpose it was created an instrument to measure the real-life and observable communicative behaviors during the competition. To develop the communication skills of the players it was designed a psychological intervention plan, that aimed to increase the behavior of general technical instruction, general encouragement and technical instruction after the error, and decrease the behavior of punishment. These targets were set for the two phases of the competition. The results of tests carried out indicate that there was a significant increase in the behavior general encouragement during the first phase of the competition. During the second phase of the competition, which had a more competitive level of demand, there was a significant increase in performance technical instruction after the error. The results indicate that the intervention plan may have been beneficial in changing the players communication profiles, but also allude to the influence that competitive requirement produces in the athletes communication patterns.
