Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The fear of going to sleep at night during childhood is very frequent in the daily life of individuals, something that makes it relevant and interesting to delve into. The present study intends to understand how to sensitize parents to the importance of children's internal world and the importance of fantasy, as well as to understand the factors that are associated with this phenomenon. Based on Melanie Klein's theory on paranoid-schizoid and depressive positions and the impact of parental transgenerationality, we intend to understand the functioning and dynamics behind this event which is considered terrifying. The method used in this investigation was qualitative, based on three case studies, which were explored with semi-structured interviews. The results obtained were in line with the literature and reveal evidence of links between fear of the dark, the caregivers' own childhood and the effect of the aforementioned positions.
