Abstract(s)
The main goal of the present study is to investigate how certain individual and work characteristics can influence employee’s adaptive performance. With the growing globalization and evolution of the new technologies, organizations are becoming more dynamic, and complex, which requires employees to develop adaptive skills, to work effectively with the new context of these changes. Therefore, it is important to comprehend how employees perceive their own adaptive performance and how this type of performance can be influenced by individual and work characteristics, namely self-efficacy and autonomy. In this investigation, it was also considered important to ascertain the role that job satisfaction could play in the relationship between self-efficacy, autonomy, and employees’ adaptive performance. The data was collected through an online survey, which was answered by 312 participants. The obtained results supported the hypotheses, revealing that self-efficacy and autonomy positively influence adaptive performance. It was also found that these relationships are partially mediated by job satisfaction. At a theoretical level, the results of the present study contribute to a more in-depth knowledge of adaptive performance and at a practical level, also provides clues of action and useful interventions for organizations that intend to promote this dimension of performance on their employees.
