| dc.description.abstract | Introdução: O trauma infantil é um fenómeno prevalente que pode influenciar profundamente a vida dos indivíduos, podendo causar sofrimento psicológico e, em alguns casos, levar ao desenvolvimento de perturbações mentais como a depressão e a ansiedade. As relações familiares desempenham um papel crucial na formação do indivíduo, influenciando as relações sociais, pensamentos, valores, crenças e, até mesmo, a autoimagem e a forma de relacionamento do indivíduo com ele próprio. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar as relações entre saúde mental, relações fraternas e traumas na infância. Para tal, foram comparados jovens adultos com e sem irmãos, considerando fatores sociodemográficos relevantes. Método: Numa amostra de conveniência composta por 142 jovens adultos, foi aplicado um questionário sociodemográfico e algumas questões sobre a relação fraterna percebida. Adicionalmente, foram utilizados a versão de 5 itens do Inventário de Saúde Mental (MHI-5) e a versão breve de 28 itens do Questionário de Trauma na Infância (CTQ-SF). Resultados: Os resultados não revelaram existir relação estatisticamente significativa entre relação fraterna, saúde mental e trauma na infância. No entanto revelaram uma associação positiva e significativa entre saúde mental no adulto e presença de trauma na infância. Conclusão: Apesar dos resultados não terem sido significativos, à exceção do trauma na infância, este estudo apresenta um novo e interessante tema que, com ajuda de investigações futuras, pode trazer mais-valias para a literatura científica portuguesa e para o tema das relações fraternas e da saúde mental | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: Introduction: Childhood trauma is a prevalent phenomenon that can profoundly influence the lives of individuals, and can cause psychological distress and, in some cases, lead to the development of mental disorders such as depression and anxiety. Family relationships play a crucial role in the formation of the individual, influencing social relationships, thoughts, values, beliefs, and even the self-image and the way the individual relates to himself. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationships between mental health, fraternal relationships and childhood trauma. To this end, young adults with and without siblings were compared, considering relevant sociodemographic factors. Method: In a convenience sample composed of 142 young adults, a sociodemographic questionnaire and some questions about the perceived fraternal relationship were applied. In addition, the 5- item version of the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-5) and the 28-item brief version of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-SF) were used. Results: The results did not reveal a statistically significant correlation between fraternal relationship, mental health and childhood trauma. However, they revealed a positive and significant association between adult mental health and the presence of childhood trauma. Conclusion: Although the results were not significant, except for childhood trauma, this study presents a new and future research, may bring added value to the Portuguese scientific literature and to the topic of fraternal relationships and mental health. | pt_PT |
