Abstract(s)
drogas (tabaco, álcool, erva, haxixe, cocaína e heroína) e a autoestima, a inteligência
emocional e a resiliência numa amostra comunitária e numa amostra de
toxicodependentes.
onde participaram 207 indivíduos, 45 do sexo masculino e 162 do sexo feminino e a
amostra clínica que integra 40 participantes, 36 do sexo masculino e 4 do sexo feminino.
Os instrumentos utilizados foram: Rosenberg Selfesteem Scale (RSES), Wong and
Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS-P) e Resilience Scale (RS).
funcionamento mental.
ABSTRACT: This research is being carried out as part of the Master's programme in Clinical Psychology at ISPA - Instituto Universitário. In today's society, drug use is quite common, and its high consumption has been defined as a social problem, mainly due to the health problems it can develop. The study therefore aims to assess the association between drug use (tobacco, alcohol, weed, hashish, cocaine and heroin) and self-esteem, emotional intelligence and resilience in a community sample and in a sample of drug addicts. This study is made up of two samples: the community sample, in which 207 individuals took part, 45 males and 162 females, and the clinical sample, in which 40 participants took part, 36 males and 4 females. The instruments used were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS-P) and the Resilience Scale (RS). The results show that there are no significant differences between the two samples in the variables AE, IE, R and degree of severity of consumption. There were no statistically significant results regarding the influence of the variables on drug use, or the association between them and drug use. However, there were significant results regarding the association between the variables AE, IE and R. This study reflects one of the problems experienced by drug addicts, and it is necessary to understand this reality in order to provide help and understand their mental functioning.
