Abstract(s)
influenciam a construção do futuro.
A metodologia
completa aceitação do passado.
tristeza.
It is true that the history of studies in the field of autobiographical memories is vast, however, there are few studies that interweave past, present and future. Our aim in this investigation was to study autobiographical memories and how they influence the construction of the future. The sample consisted of 82 participants with no pathology, between 20 and 60 years old. The methodology was mainly focused on the application of a new task called "I Am" and "I Will Be" Task, and clinical scales such as the Emotional Assessment Scale (EAS), Accepting the Past/Reminiscing the Past (ACPAST/REM), Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory – Form Y (STAI-Y) and the Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ) were also applied to the sample. The general conclusions of this study were that when participants have memories of negative emotional valence about their past and do not elaborate them in a cohesive way they can not be imagined so easily in the future, since there is no complete acceptance of the past. In this line of thought the anxious, depressive symptoms and maladaptive schemes increase, as well as emotions of fear, guilt and sadness. On the other hand, the participants that are characterized by a positive emotional valence have higher values of acceptance of their past and absence of any type of symptomatology as well as lower values in emotions such as anger and sadness.
