Abstract(s)
orientações hedónicas; princípio do desenvolvimento e crescimento pessoal – orientações
A presente investigação
bem-estar (HEMAA), atitudes sexuais (EAS) e satisfação sexual (NSSS).
ABSTRACT: The concern for mental well-being has been gaining prominence nowadays due to its importance in the conception of a full and complete life. The motivations for the acquisition of this concept arise from different principles, namely the principle of pleasure and comfort – hedonic orientations; the principle of personal development and growth – eudaimonic orientations and the principle of status and power – extrinsic motivations. These motivations affect all contexts in which individuals live, including the sexual context. Sexual activity can emerge as a mean to fulfill needs, such as sexual pleasure, sexual satisfaction, relational satisfaction, and even financial needs, and may fluctuate according to sexual attitudes (e.g., permissiveness, communion). The present research sought to explain the relationship between well-being and sexual satisfaction, as well as to investigate the possibility of mediation by sexual attitudes. The sample consisted of 274 adults (M= 28.8; SD= 8.5, 75.2% female) who completed 3 scales related to well-being (HEMAA), sexual attitudes (EAS) and sexual satisfaction (NSSS). The results indicated a relationship of prediction of well-being with sexual satisfaction in the two dimensions evaluated, however, communion was the only sexual attitude that was relevant in the mediation between hedonic and eudaimonic orientations and satisfaction centered on the "I". In conclusion, the hedonic and eudaimonic orientations presented a relationship with sexual satisfaction centered on the "other" and centered on the "I", the latter being mediated by sexual activity within stable and committed relationships.
