Abstract(s)
em participantes de um concurso televisivo. Os participantes (N= 68; M idade = 39.43;
DP idade = 14.06) completaram uma versão portuguesa do Profile of Mood States
The present study examined the relationship between the mood states and performance among participants of a television contest. The participants (N= 68; M age = 39.43; DP age = 14.06) completed a portuguese version of the Profile of Mood States (POMS - Viana, Almeida & Santos, 2001) 1 hour before the beginning of the contest, and performance (number of correct answers) was evaluated later. The results indicated that there is a negative relationship between Tension and Confusion experienced by the subjects and their performance. Additionally, a negative relationship between perceived Hostility and previous experience was found. The results also showed that, for the participants of the present study, it is not possible to differentiate the performance of the participants having for base its profiles of mood states. It is suggested that future research is needed to investigate factors such as personality and/or previous experiences that might account for individual differences in the strength of mood-performance relationships.
