contextos reais (i.e. Imprevisto de Alta Urgência versus Baixa Urgência).
Ainda, a
This study aims to analyze how Explicit and Implicit coordination patterns, as team processes, contribute to the ability of a team of Firefighters to deal with unexpected events that may occur during the extraction task and if these behaviors have an impact on the performance of these teams. Considering that the context in which these teams operate is extreme, it’s often impossible to collect data for an investigation, so this study was made in a training context, in which the variables that were introduced often occur in real contexts (ie. High Emergency versus Low Emergency). This study has the participation of 140 recruits that belong to the Regiment of Firefighters of Lisbon from the Command and Training Headquarters in Marvila. These participants were organized in 28 teams, of 5 members each: 4 technicians and 1 rescuer (there is also a leader who isn’t part of the sample). To assess the results of Explicit and Implicit Coordination it was used an analysis grid designed specifically for the present study, Co-EXTRACT, which is based on the pre-existing analysis grid Co-ACT (Kolbe, Burtscher, & Manser, 2013). Objective Performance was assessed by timing the time it took each team to complete an extraction task. It was found differences between the experimental groups (ie. High Urgency versus Low Urgency) in terms of the variables Explicit and Implicit Coordination and Objective Performance. Furthermore, the mediation hypothesis was corroborated. In addition to the hypotheses, all the research questions were answered, through the analysis of the coordination trajectories.
