| dc.description.abstract | O objectivo central desta tese consistiu na análise detalhada, entre os anos de 1905 e 1930, da vida de uma instituição educativa denominada de Escola Oficina N°l, criada em Lisboa pela Sociedade Promotora de Asylos Creches e Escolas, uma organização de carácter maçónico. Dentro deste objectivo geral, interessou-nos, em primeiro lugar, a análise da forma como se deu a mudança de um modelo educativo tradicional consignado nos objectivos dos fundadores desta escola, para um modelo educativo lihertário, que fazendo-se eco da radicalização do campo social e político português do principio do século, veio a caracterizar a forma de funcionamento desta escola, entre 1907 e meados da década de vinte deste século; De seguida, interessou-nos compreender, em termos de vivência do quotidiano escolar, de planos curriculares, de aspectos como as aprendizagens, as avaliações, a autonomia dos alunos, a disciplina, etc., quais os conteúdo específicos de um modelo educativo lihertário; Finalmente, interessou-nos questionar as potencialidades desta forma de encarar e de praticar a educação, em termos do presente e do futuro da educação. Os procedimentos seguidos, são os tradicionais dentro da História da Educação: recolha, tratamento e análise de fontes, e o seu cruzamento com os contributos teóricos que durante este século foram questionando as relações entre a sociedade e a educação. Dentro destes contributos, realçamos o campo do que genericamente se apelidou de Educação Nova, por um lado, e as concepções educativas do Socialismo, por outro, cuja síntese se encontrou num estado muito perfeito, na prática educativa e pedagógica da Escola Oficina N°l. As conclusões a que chegámos, realçam a especificidade que cada modelo toma quando corporizado num exemplo, pelo que acentuam a impossibilidade de fazer de exemplos do passado, bandeiras do futuro. Mas também pensamos ter conseguido mostrar, como em campos específicos tais como as aprendizagens, a autonomia dos alunos e outros, as concepções educativas postas em prática por esta escola, se mostram completamente operativas para o futuro; e como nos termos gerais com que a Educação era encarada e praticada pelos pedagogos da Escola Oficina N°l, através de uma busca incessante do máximo de liberdade individual e de autonomia por parte da criança, a par de um grande rigor no processo de aprendizagem, e na promoção de atitudes enfatizando a justiça social, o respeito e a tolerância pelos outros, o exemplo corporizado por esta escola ainda tem o condão de nos fazer sonhar. ------ ABSTRACT ------ The central objective of this thesis is the detailed analysis of the life of an educational intitution (namely, the Escola Oficina N°l), from 1905 to 1930.The Escola Oficina n°l was created in Lisbon by the Sociedade Promotora de Asylos Creches e Escolas, an organization of Masonic character. Within this overall objective, we were interested, firstly, in the analysis of the way in wich a tradicional educational model, originally part of the project of the founders of this school, became a model of libertarian education.This latter model, echoeing the radicalization of Portuguese social and political realities at the beginning of the century, came to characterize the functioning of this school between 1907 and the middle years of the 1920s. Secondly, we were interested in understanding (in therms of, for example, daily life whithin the school, curricula, methods for learning, assessment, pupil autonomy, school, discipline, etc.) the nature of the specific contents of a libertarian model of education. Finnally, we where interested in questioning the potentialities of this way of conceptualizing and practicing education, both in terms of present and the future. The procedures followed in this thesis are those traditional within the History of Education: data gathering and analysis, including the crossing of this data with the theoretical contributions that during this century have questioned the relationship between society and education.Among such contributions, we have given emphasis, on the one hand, to what is generally known as Educação Nova, and, on the other, to Socialist conceptions of education, whose synthesis is encountered, in an almost perfect state, in the pedagogy and educational practice of the Escola Oficina N°l. The conclusions to wich we have arrived give emphasis to the specificity which each model assumes when embodied in an example. Thus, they accentuate the impossibility of turnig examples of the past directly into projects for the future. However, we believe we have also managed to show how, in specific areas such as methods for learning, pupil autonomy and others, the educational conceptions put in practice by this school still maintain themselves completely operative for the future.Further, we believe we have shown how the example embodied in this school still has the capacity to make us dream, by way of the general terms in wich education was assumed and practiced by the pedagogues of Escola Oficina N°l, through their unending search for the development of maximum individual liberty and autonomy for the child, while at the same time they mainteined great rigour with regard to learning processes and in the promotion of attitudes of social justice, including respect and tolerance for others. | por |
