qualidade da vinculação, as reações parentais face às emoções negativas dos seus filhos e as competências sociais, numa amostra de crianças em idade pré-escolar. Participaram nesta investigação 42 crianças (entre os 4 e 5 anos de idade), os pais e educadoras de uma instituição privada de ensino pré-escolar na cidade de Beja. Utilizamos os seguintes instrumentos, versão portuguesa: Attachment Story Completion Task (ASCT) para avaliar a qualidade da vinculação;
The child development is marked by consecutive changes at the emotional and social levels. In this process the literature states the quality of attachment and social competence are closely related. Parental reactions to their child’s negative emotions are also involved in the child’s development and ability to express emotions. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between quality of attachment, parental reactions to their children's negative emotions and social competence, in a sample of preschool children. Forty-two children (between 4 and 5 years old), parents and educators of a private preschool institution in Beja participated in this research. We use the following instruments, Portuguese version: Attachment Story Completion Task (ASCT) to assess the quality of the attachment; The Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation Scale (SCBE-30) to understand children's social competence, externalizing and internalizing behavior, and the Coping with Children’s Negative Emotions Scale (CCNES) was used to assess parental reactions to children's negative emotions. The results suggested an association between social competence and externalizing behaviors. There was also an association between the problem-centered father reaction to externalizing behaviors. Finally, we note several father-mother associations, regarding constructive and negative reactions.
