Abstract(s)
permitindo integrar progressivamente habilidades relacionais e técnicas.
Objective: There is still a gap in the knowledge of the use of deliberate practice in combination with clinical supervision. This study’s objective is to quantitatively analyse the experience of a group of psychotherapists who went through deliberate practice and clinical supervision together. Method: Qualitative study, having been conducted in-depth interviews with six psychotherapists in training. The interviews were analyzed following the criteria of the phenomenological method (Giorgi and Sousa, 2010). Results: This study put into evidence how deliberate practice and supervision were a challenge, required personal effort, an acknowledgment of weaknesses and difficulties, allowing a reflective development, with corrective feedback, bearing in mind a specific plan of improvement in the practice, allowing to progressively integrate relational and technical skills. Conclusion: Investigation on deliberate practice is scarce in psychotherapy. This study offers an important contribuition in the sense that it corroborates previous investigations, adds more data to the existing literature and articulates theoric knowledge with the existencial clinical practice. Deliberate practice was valued as an important experience that allowed for a better performance and more objectivity in clinical intervention.
