Entre a continuidade e a mudança: o processo de reconhecimento de identidade de género não binária

| dc.description.abstract | A identidade de género é cada vez mais discutida atualmente, especialmente para denotar que a pessoa é muito mais do que alguém que se insere numa das categorias binárias de género. Categorias essas que aparecem como uma imposição sociocultural agressiva para que o sujeito se conforme com o binário. Dada a multiplicidade de identificações de género e a imposição sociocultural para que o sujeito se insira no binário quando essa não é a forma de viver/pensar o seu género, compreende-se que a pessoa entre num processo complicado de tensão entre continuidade e mudança. Este estudo pretendeu compreender como é que, perante esta tensão mudança-continuidade, se desencadeia o processo de mudança e consciencialização do género em sujeitos com não-conformidade de género. Utilizou-se a Entrevista Narrativa em Associação Livre para se recolherem duas narrativas que foram analisadas individualmente de forma a encontrar temáticas mais relevantes e, posteriormente, as grandes temáticas foram analisadas e comparadas em conjunto. Os resultados revelam temáticas convergentes, como: pertença a um grupo; falta de apoio; importância da informação externa; e visão sobre o corpo. Porém, aparecem temáticas divergentes, como: definição de género; desenvolvimento do questionamento do género; importância da aparência. Este estudo permitiu pensar de forma diferente não só a não-conformidade de género (não numa perspetiva patológica, de disforia), como também a tensão entre mudança-continuidade (não como algo característico do desenvolvimento). Serviu também para pensar a necessidade de pertença a um grupo que os sujeitos com não-conformidade de género sentem. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Gender identity tends to be more discussed nowadays, specially to draw attention to the fact that the person is so much more than someone who belongs to a binary gender category. These categories appear as an aggressive sociocultural imposition that forces the person to conform with the binary. Since there’s so many gender identity possibilities and with the sociocultural imposition that forces the person to conform with the binary when that isn’t the way they live/think their gender, it’s understandable the fact that the person gets into a very complicated process of tension between continuity and change. This study aimed to understand how, in the face of this change-continuity tension, the process of change and awareness of gender is triggered in people with gender non-conformity. It was used the Narrative Interview in Free Association. Two narratives have been collected and individually analyzed to find the more relevant themes and, later, these themes where analyzed and compared together. The results show convergent themes, as: belonging to a group; lack of support; feedback importance; and body perception. However, there’s divergent themes as well: gender definition; development of gender questioning; importance of appearance. This study allowed to think in a different way not only about gender non-conformity (not as a pathology perspective, dysphoria) but also the change-continuity tension (not as a normal part of development). It allowed to think as well about the need of belonging to a group that the people with gender non-conformity feel. | pt_PT |
