Terapias assistidas com animais - Eficácia em idosos institucionalizados diagnosticados com esquizofrenia

Pretende-se estudar o efeito que as Terapias Assistidas com Animais terão numa
população Idosa diagnosticada com Esquizofrenia. Deste forma temos como objectivo
analisar os potenciais benefícios que este tipo de terapia possa ter nesta população,
particularmente ao nível da capacidade de Atenção Selectiva e de Memória a Curto
Prazo. Foi assim estudado um grupo de 10 sujeitos que participaram numa sessão de
TAA por semana durante um período 3 meses. Antes do início da TAA e após os 3
meses, serão aplicados o Teste Stroop e o sub-teste Memória de dígitos da Prova
Weschler - Escala de Inteligência para Adultos, e registaremos conclusões.
The objective of this work is to study de effect that animal assisted therapies will have in an elderly population, diagnosed with schizophrenic disorder. We want to learn the potential benefits that this type of intervention could have in this particularly kind of population, predominantly in the areas of Selective Attention and Short-term Memory. With this objective in mind, we will study a group of 10 subjects who participate in 1 session of AAT a week during three months. Before and after these three months we applied the Stroop test and de the Number Sequencing Sub-Test of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, and we will register conclusions.
