Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Psychosocial risks have been emerged in the field of Occupational Health due to significant changes in work environment and organizations, especially in the health care contexts. Re-covery have been studied as a mechanism that could change the effect of work characteristics in worker´s health and well-being, in particular burnout and work engagement. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate psychosocial risk in hospital workers and explore the mediation role of recovery experiences in the relation between job demands and burnout and in the relation between available job resources and work engagement. The following questionnaires COPSOQ-II, REQ and UWES were applied to 577 employees of all profes-sional categories, to measure psychosocial risks, recovery experiences and work engagement, respectively. Results showed that more than 50% of inquired employees are at risk for cogni-tive demands, emotions demands and work influence and 34,4% are at risk for burnout. It was also found that relaxation and psychological detachment significantly and partially me-diate the relationship between some job demands and burnout. In addition a significant and partial mediation effect of relaxation, mastery and control has been found between some of job resources and work engagement. This study provides a contribution to clarify the rela-tionships between the variables under analysis and guide a tailored-made intervention in the institution.
