Enquadramento: O auto estigma em pessoas com doença mental grave pode vir a acarretar consequências negativas ao nível da sua qualidade de vida. Devido à magnitude dos seus efeitos nesta população revela-se fulcral o desenvolvimento de investigações nesta temática. Objetivos: O principal objetivo da presente investigação foi dar a conhecer a vivência de um grupo de pessoas com experiência em doença mental grave que participaram num programa de redução do estigma internalizado. Método: Participaram 6 utentes, com idades compreendidas entre os 25 e 55 anos, em que se implementaram entrevistas semiestruturadas para a realização da sua análise e obtenção de dados qualitativos, através de uma análise temática. Resultados: O resultado da recolha e análise de dados resultou em quatro grandes temas, entre eles, a experiência de participação, a identificação de conteúdos do programa, efeitos e conteúdos associados à promoção de saúde mental, verificando assim um impacto positivo do programa face ao estigma internalizado nos participantes.
Background: Self-stigma in people with severe mental illness can have negative consequences in terms of their quality of life. Due to the magnitude of its effects in this population, the development of investigations on this subject is crucial. Aims: The main objective of this investigation was to make known the experience of a group of people with experience in severe mental illness who participated in a program to reduce internalized stigma. Method: Six users participated, aged between 25 and 55 years, in which semi-structured interviews were implemented to carry out their analysis and obtain qualitative data, through a thematic analysis. Results: The result of the data collection and analysis resulted in four major themes, including the participation experience, the identification of program contents, effects and contents associated with the promotion of mental health, thus verifying a positive impact of the program against the stigma internalized in the participants.
