Abstract(s)
envelhecimento humano.
Lisboa, e nela participaram 193 idosos.
ABSTRACT: Due to increased life expectancy and the importance that the increasingly elderly have in our society, there is a need to understand the human aging process. This study aims to examine the association between life aspirations, orientation to happiness and motivation for learning in older adults attending a senior university. The sample was collected in three senior universities in the region of Lisbon and was attended by 193 seniors. Three questionnaires were used: life aspirations; orientation to happiness; and intrinsic motivation for learning in senior university. The results of this study show a significant relation between some dimensions of the three scales. It was concluded that the aspiration of life that have more weight in the motivation to learn is the community dimension (β = 0.208; p = 0.10), which is also correlated with the orientation to happiness through a sense for life (r = .322). Although the small sample size and the bias of the responses does not allow to generalize the results of this study, these are relevant to better understand the aging population.
