Aplicaram-se online os instrumentos, The Coronavirus Health Impact Survey Parent/Caregiver Short Form, The Coronavirus Health Impact Survey Adult Short Form, Child-Rearing Practice Report Questionnaire e o Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21.
With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the confinement and social distancing recommendations, the closing of schools and nurseries and several other services, the family life was made considerably different, being more susceptible to experience an increase in stress. In order to clarify and deepen the existing information, the present study aimed to analyse the influence that the pandemic had on the stress levels of parents and children during the first confinement in parental practices. An experimental cross-sectional study was thus carried out with 154 mothers with children of preschool age. The Coronavirus Health Impact Survey Parent/Caregiver Short Form, the Coronavirus Health Impact Survey Adult Short Form, Child-Rearing Practice Report Questionnaire and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 were applied online. As a result, we found that parental stress was positively correlated with several factors such as Depression, Anxiety, feelings of Sadness, Agitation, Tiredness, difficulties in Concentration, Irritability and Loneliness, something that strongly influenced the experience of the first confinement for parents and consequently their parenting practices.
