Abstract(s)
A presente investigação teve como objetivo analisar os efeitos das Atividades Extracurriculares relativamente às variáveis sucesso académico, estilo de aprendizagem e motivação académica em estudantes do ensino superior. Participaram no estudo 249 estudantes do ensino superior Português a frequentarem diferentes cursos. De forma a medir o sucesso académico recorremos à média ponderada dos alunos no momento da entrega do questionário; a Escala de Motivação para Aprender de Boruchovitch (2008) de forma a medir os índices de Motivação académica e o IPE, Inventario de Processos de Estudo de Rosário, Mourão, Núñez, González-Pienda, Solano e Valle (2007) para analisar a variável estilo de aprendizagem. Quanto aos resultados obtidos, quando analisado o impacto da prática de Actividades Extracurriculares no sucesso académico, estilo de aprendizagem e Motivação académica, não foi possível encontrar qualquer efeito introduzido pela prática de Actividades Extracurriculares. No entanto, quando analisado o comprometimento com as Atividades Extracurriculares, surgem diferenças na motivação extrínseca, e em alguns dos itens relacionados com a abordagem profunda ao estudo. Face a estes resultados procuramos identificar motivos para os mesmos levantando questões quanto à forma de olhar para o estudo destes constructos.
The current study aims to analyze the effects of Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) on academic success, learning style and academic motivation in students of higher education, The study's sample involved 249 subjects enrolled in Portuguese higher education in different courses and at several different institutions. In order to measure academic success, we used the weighted grade average of the students at the time of delivery of the questionnaire; the EMA - Motivation Scale to Learn by Boruchovitch (2008) was used to measure Academic Motivation indexes; and the IPE - Inventário de Processos de Estudo (Learning Approach Inventory) by Rosário, Mourão, Núñez, González-Pienda, Solano and Valle (2007) was used to analyze the learning style variable. From the results obtained in the present study it wasn’t possible to present any relation between the practice of ECAs and academic success, learning style or academic motivation, all dough wen analyzing the students whit higher load of ECAs, measured by the number of hours practicing the activity, it was possible to identify some correlation whit 2 items frim the LAI and whit extrinsic motivations. There for, we tried to engage on a theorical guide line for future study, to endorse a distinct view of the different dimensions in study to enhance future study’s.
