Abstract(s)
Hoje em dia existem variados programas que ensinam as competências e funções parentais.
Essas competências, após adquiridas, são utilizadas na relação entre pais e filhos. Mas, e estes
filhos? O que pensam eles dos pais? O que é para os filhos ter um bom pai? Quais as funções
que eles reconhecem como mais importantes nas figuras parentais? O presente estudo
exploratório tem como objectivo responder a estas perguntas, dando voz às crianças. Aplicouse
um questionário aberto a 103 crianças entre os 7 e os 9 anos de idade. Após ter sido
efectuada uma análise de conteúdo, obtiveram-se 7 funções principais que as crianças
reconhecem num bom pai/mãe. Foram comparadas estatisticamente as respostas dadas às
categorias conforme o sexo, idade, e a co-habitação das crianças (filhos de pais juntos vs pais
separados). Analisou-se ainda a distinção entre boas características de um pai e boas
características de uma mãe.
