Inserido no
A análise
This study’s main objective is to understand the lived experience of being-inthe- world among people with paraplegia, exploring how each individual perceives and gives meaning to their existence after spinal cord injury. Framed within the qualitative paradigm, the research uses the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method, which focuses on understanding subjective experiences and the meanings constructed from the individual perspectives of the participants. The sample consists of ten adults diagnosed with acquired paraplegia, who took part in semi-structured interviews that provided narratives about the impact of the injury on their daily lives and personal identity. The interpretative analysis of the reports identified six central themes: (1) rupture and identity reconstruction; (2) acceptance and adaptation to the new reality; (3) autonomy as a relational process; (4) interpersonal relationships and social perception; (5) social and structural barriers; and (6) resilience, purpose, and meaning in life. Findings show that paraplegia is experienced as a profound existential transformation which interrupts the continuity of the body and the familiar world, but also enables new forms of authenticity, presence, and meaning. The experience emerges as a process of selfreconstruction, in which vulnerability becomes possibility and limitation becomes an opportunity for personal growth.
