Abstract(s)
cinco temas e nove subtemas.
clientes LGB.
ABSTRACT: This study aimed to explore and understand whether LGB training had an influence on the implementation of affirmative practices by heterosexual and cisgender Portuguese psychologists working with clients who identify as Lesbian, Gay, and bisexual (LGB). A sample of 9 participants with ages between 27 and 47 years old was collected, with eight identifying as female and one as male. Online interviews were conducted using the Teams platform. The interviews were analyzed using the thematic analysis qualitative method. Five themes and nine subthemes were identified. The results revealed that participants with LGB training presented more affirmative approaches and maintained more positive attitudes towards LGB individuals. Additionally, personal characteristics related to the psychologists’ personal background acted as facilitators of engagement in affirmative practices, fostering positive attitudes and behaviors towards LGB individuals and in the development of strategies to ensure the affirmative quality of their interventions. Therefore, this study contributes to the understanding of the influence that LGB training plays in facilitating and promoting appropriate and effective interventions when working with LGB clients.
