Abstract(s)
estado a viver.
ABSTRACT: This study was developed within the scope of a master's thesis. The relevance of the chosen theme is due in particular to the context that Portugal and the world have been experiencing. It is thus intended to contribute to a better understanding of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Nursing Professionals, seeking to highlight the risks and opportunities to which these professionals have been exposed since the beginning of the outbreak, as well as social support and strategies of health promotion that can be developed in the context of the crisis and in the future. In this sense, experiences and concerns lived by these professionals in a hospital context will be explored, starting from three thematic dimensions: psychological effects; changes in team dynamics and in the work environment and, finally, the presence of perceived stressors in the workplace. In order to achieve the objectives defined in this research, a qualitative study was developed whose collection of testimonies was carried out in the first wave of the pandemic, that is, between the months of March and July 2020. In this sense, a literature review was developed of most recent published in the period between March 2020 and September 2022, the method used being thematic analysis, explored through the research of narratives contained in 11 testimonies. A second sample was collected consisting of six nurses in the same period, who were working in a district hospital in the urgency/emergency and urgency services of COVID, which resulted in the preparation of notes in the form of a “diary”. Finally, a cross-sectional analysis of the various narratives was elaborated.
