Abstract(s)
subjectivo).
Competências Psicológicas para o Desporto – Forma R5” (ICPD) (Cruz e Viana, 1993;
ABSTRACT: The purposes of this investigation were to explore the relationship between state self-confidence during a competitive season (17 home games) of the National Championship, of a group of 23 senior soccer players, on their levels of performance (objectively and subjectively accessed) and their skill levels of self-confidence; analyse the relationships between the different measures of performance (objective and subjective). The athletes in a pre-competitive moment responded to individual PODIUM (Abrantes, 2005). During competition the objective performance was registered through direct observation and later calculated individual ratios for each athlete per game. After de competition the soccer players filled a pos-competitive questionnaire (Cruz, 1991; cit. por Almeida, 2003) evaluating their performances and the coaches evaluated their athletes using the questionnaire of Ebbeck e Weiss (1988). In a non competitive moment all the players completed the ICPD (Cruz e Viana, 1993; Viana, Carvalho, Barrocas e América, 1993) to access trade-self-confidence. In this athletes sample no significant correlation were found between competitive self-confidence and the different measures of performance. Even more, there were no significant correlations between the different types of performance and between trade-self-confidence and state-selfconfidence. Nevertheless we finalize this article with some important considerations and suggestions for future investigations.
