A investigação internacional na área da violência nas
relações íntimas juvenis tem experimentado um crescimento
exponencial, sobretudo nas últimas duas décadas. Também
em Portugal começam a surgir alguns estudos a este nível.
Este artigo pretende constituir uma revisão da literatura
sobre o tema, em que se procura destacar os indicadores
de prevalência deste tipo de abuso nos jovens, em termos
de vitimização e perpetração, dando especial enfoque
à relação entre vitimização, agressão e género. Simultaneamente,
são alvo de análise as crenças e atitudes subjacentes
a este tipo de violência, os factores de risco para a sua
ocorrência, assim como o impacto a curto, médio e longo-
-prazo deste fenómeno na vida dos jovens. Este artigo
encerra com algumas recomendações a atender em
investigações futuras, de forma a prover uma compreensão
mais profunda sobre este fenómeno.
ABSTRACT: International research on dating violence relationships has increased exponentially, especially in the last two decades. Also in Portugal, some studies have been conducted in this area. This article intends to present a review of the current body of literature about this theme, focused on the prevalence rates of this kind of abuse, and with a special emphasis on the relationship between victimization, aggression and gender. Simultaneously, beliefs and attitudes about this form of violence are analysed, as well as the risk factors to its occurrence, and it’s impact of violence in life of the young persons involved. This article concludes discussing some suggestions for future research in order to achieve a better comprehension of this problem.
