Abstract(s)
No entanto, a literatura
No entanto,
Divorce and interparental conflict have been the subject of many investigations, which suggest an impact on offspring romantic relationships, in emerging adulthood. However, the literature has done this analysis separately, and there are few studies that seek to understand the two phenomena together, i.e., within divorce cases, what is the influence of parental conflict. Therefore, this study main objective is to make such analysis, focusing only on high and low conflict divorce cases, comparing the two groups, regarding the impact on satisfaction, commitment and disillusionment of offspring's romantic relationships and their attitudes towards marriage. A total of 212 participants were considered, between the ages of 18 and 25, who had experienced a divorce from their parents as early as 5 years of age. The results point to the absence of significant differences between the two groups in divorce conflict, regarding the variables satisfaction, commitment and disillusionment. However, there are relevant differences in the attitudes of young adults towards marriage, in which individuals who experienced a conflictive divorce show less favorable attitudes towards marriage, compared to those who experienced a low conflict divorce. At last, there were no significant differences between the gender of the participants and the studied variables.
