Abstract(s)
as duas continuam escassas.
Triad Scale (LTS); e a Career Growth Scale (CGS).
This study examined the influence of personality traits, specifically the Dark Triad (machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy) and the Light Triad (humanism, faith in humanity and kantianism), on career progression. Despite prior literature suggesting shortterm benefits for Dark Triad in competitive environments and long-term advantages for Light Triad in creating sustainable career, empirical research comparing these two remains scarce. A non-probabilistic convenience sample of 188 working adults completed the validated portuguese version of: the Dirty Dozen (DD); the Light Triad Scale (LTS); and the Career Growth Scale (CGS). This paired alongside with objective indicators for progression, such as number of promotions and time between them. Contrary to the hypotheses, the findings proposed that none of the dark traits positively predicted career progression – the trait humanism from the Light Triad appeared as the only consistent positive predictor, correlating with both the objective and perceptive indicators of career growth. These results highlight the growing importance of prosocial dispositions for professional progress, challenging traditional assumptions that manipulative or assertive tendencies lead to faster career success. The present investigation brings contributes to organizational psychology by emphasizing the theoretical and practical relevance of prosocial values in contemporary career development.
