Abstract(s)
o trabalho.
ABSTRACT: In the organizational environment, an exponential increase in bullshits at the workplace is notorious. Bullshits are speech that is made with little regard for veracity, with the aim of deliberately misleading the environment and thereby achieving the interests of the bullshitter. This construct is made up mostly with themes about truthfulness, leadership, communication. Although theoretical studies reveal a negative impact on productivity and leadership in organizations, there are no empirical studies about the impacts that the perception of bullshits in the workplace has on employee performance and employee job satisfaction. In this study, we translated and adapted the Organizational Bullshit Perception Scale for the portuguese population, thus contributing to the research on this construct. The main objectives of this research were: to understand the relationship between perceived organizational bullshits and employee performance, and to test whether job satisfaction could explain this relationship. The study had the participation of 170 participants using a questionnaire that consisted of the scales that evaluated the constructs under study. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between the perception of bullshits at work and the performance of employees, and job satisfaction does not mediate this relationship. However, there was a significant negative relationship between the perception of bullshits at work and job satisfaction of employees. With this study we were able to gain insight into issues that need to be taken into account in organizations. More specifically, it is important that organizations adopt a clear, fact-based communication style that promotes an environment of trust and safety so that employees have higher levels of overall job satisfaction.
