Abstract(s)
pesquisados.
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to verify the existence of stress, anxiety and depression on the bearers of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), by EADS-21 in a sample of 30 people. Considering the thematic and, as it is not an objective to confirm hypotheses, but to verify if certain variables are found in the sample, this study is descriptive and not experimental, once it is not related to the manipulation of variables. Based on the theoretical assumption that MS is a chronic inflammatory disease of the Central Nervous System, characterized by the destruction of the mielina, leading to lesions and scars (scleroses) in the brain and in the spinal marrow. The humor alterations as depression, anxiety and stress are part of the symptomatology of the MS. The existence of peculiar characteristics, makes the neuropsychological approach become extremely relevant. After the diagnosis, factors as unpredictability, exacerbation periods and uncertain symptoms interfere in a decisive way in the patients' life. The uncertainty about the future and the loss of a normal lifestyle makes that many, in certain occasions, feel severely depressed. The results demonstrate presence of anxiety symptoms (46.66%), depression (40%) and stress (30%) and there are no significant differences in relation to the age, gender or marital status, just as is postulate in the researched studies.
