Enquadramento: Apesar da literatura defender que o desenvolvimento profissional contínuo e a formação contínua, são as ferramentas mais significativas contra a obsolescência profissional e a meia-vida do conhecimento existe uma falta na literatura no que diz respeito aos resultados associados. O presente artigo revê artigos que abordem os resultados formação contínua e do desenvolvimento profissional contínuo. Método: Realizaram-se pesquisas sistemáticas nas bases electrónicas: PsycInfo, PsycARTICLES, PEP, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, Academic Search Complete, utilizando os termos Continuing Education, Continuing Professional Development, Psychoterapist e pyschotherapy. Uma pesquisa adicional foi realizada a partir da bibliografia dos artigos recolhidos. Resultados: Foram seleccionados 17 estudos empíricos que analisam os resultados associados à formação contínua. Conclusões: A formação contínua é um aspecto do desenvolvimento profissional que necessita de estudos relacionados com os resultados ulteriores e que inquiram os psicoterapeutas acerca das suas actividades de formação.
ABSTRACT: Framework: Although the literature argues that continuing professional development and continuing education are the most significant tools against professional obsolescence and the half-life of knowledge there is a lack in the literature regarding the associated results. This article reviews articles that address the results of continuing education and continuing professional development. Method: Systematic searches were conducted in the electronic databases PsycInfo, PsycARTICLES, PEP, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, Academic Search Complete, using the terms Continuing Education, Continuing Professional Development, Psychoterapist and Pyschotherapy. Further research was carried out from the bibliography of the articles collected. Results: We selected 17 empirical studies that analyze the results associated with continuing education.
