Abstract(s)
resultados previstos e a aliança.
As
This study aims to replicate M. Cooper's study on clients' activity preferences in psychotherapy and their relationship with the alliance and the therapeutic approach model to a sample of the Portuguese population. Objective: To find an answer to the following questions: (a) what preferences and activities clients prefer; (b) whether there is a correspondence between preferences and the psychotherapeutic approach in predicting outcomes and the alliance; (c) whether the scores of the preference dimensions, per se, corroborated the predicted outcomes and the alliance. Method: 22 clients (N=22), recruited from therapist and social media facebook and LinkedIn, aged 18+ and currently in therapy, participated. Participants answered the C-NIP instrument to identify their preferences, the CORE-10, the WSAS, and the ARM-5 to identify outcomes and alliance. Results: The Portuguese population sample shows a preference for nondirective therapists, focused challenge, intense emotional environment, and slight present orientation. The differences with the study carried out by Cooper et al. (2021) may be related to the cultural differences defined by Hofstede, but also to the small sample size and the fact that the answers were only collected once, thus preventing the possibility of an evolutionary comparison of the results
