comportamentos desviantes.
ABSTRACT: This study had, as its primary purpose, to explore the relationship between peer groups and deviant behaviours, as well as the relationship between self-control and deviant conduct. As for a secondary goal, it was desired to comprehend the way the perception of seriousness of the deviant behaviours was influenced by peer groups, therefore perpetuating a deviant trajectory in the youth’s development. The sample of this study was composed by 178 students who belonged to a Lisbon high school, with comprehended ages between 15 and 18 years old. This study used the following instruments: Self-control Scale (Fonseca, 2002), Group Identification Scale (Mirand & Gouveia-Pereira, 2013) and Perception of Seriousness of Deviant Behaviour Scale, and adaption of Deviant Behaviours Scale (Sanches & Gouveia-Pereira, 2013). The analysis of the results demonstrated that there no significant differences between the types of groups (formal and informal) and the deviant behaviours as well there no significant differences between perception of seriousness of the deviant behaviours and the types of groups. However, the results showed that the perception of the seriousness of deviant behaviours partially mediates the relationship between self-control and deviant behaviour.
