Abstract(s)
This study's goal was to produce empirical evidence on the relationship between the dimensions of positive psychological capital (PsyCap) and the dimensions of perceived performance, as well as what moderating effect the scouting experience - and its duration - may have on this relationship. Based on existing literature, the following hypotheses were extracted: The PsyCap dimensions significantly, and positively influence the performance dimensions (1), the scouting experience moderates the relationship between the PsyCap dimensions and the performance dimensions in a manner that magnifies the positive relationship between them (2) the scouting experience, and duration moderate the relationship between the PsyCap dimensions and the performance dimensions in a manner that magnifies the positive relationship between them (3). For this study, a sample of 570 Portuguese workers, of which 411 participants were, or are, participants of the CNE (Corpo Nacional de Escutas), were inquired by means of an online questionnaire, which included the measuring scales of the variables of interest to this study - namely the scales of PsyCap and perceived performance. The results showed that PsyCap dimensions are partially related to perceived performance dimensions, as well as that the scouting experience doesn't moderate this relationship. However, the results also showed that the duration of the scouting experience partially moderates the relationship between PsyCap and perceived performance dimensions. Therefore, this investigation contributes towards research in the field of PsyCap and its relationship with perceived performance, specifically the organizational practice of the processes of attraction, selection, integration and individual performance of collaborators.
