Abstract(s)
emocionais positivas no trabalho.
In an increasingly digital world, constant connectivity has become a regular feature of the contemporary workplace, driven above all by the growing use of mobile devices that keep people permanently connected. In this context, it is essential to understand phenomena such as workaholism, which have been gaining prominence, particularly with regard to their impact on employees' affections. The main aim of this study was to investigate whether the dimensions of Digital Disconnection act as mediating variables in the relationship between the dimensions of workaholism and positive and negative affect. Based on a sample of 184 participants, the results showed that, in the area of positive affect, Digital Disconnection, particularly in the dimension of Technological Restrictions, had a significant mediating effect on all the dimensions of workaholism (Motivational, Cognitive, Emotional and Behavioral). On the other hand, the Communication dimension showed no significant mediating effects. With regard to negative affections, no mediating effects were identified, indicating that Digital Disconnection does not play a relevant role in this relationship. These results reinforce the importance of managing digital connectivity as a protective factor in the organizational context, with a special impact on promoting positive emotional experiences at work. This research also contributes to reflecting on organizational strategies that encourage a culture of digital disconnection, as a way of mitigating the adverse effects associated with Workaholism.
