Abstract(s)
Na presente dissertação pretende-se explorar a abordagem das capacidades no
contexto da saúde mental, tendo por base as capacidades descritas no referencial teórico
de Nussbaum. Será defendido que estas capacidades encontram-se ao alcance de cada
pessoa, evitando a discriminação e apoiando a integração das pessoas com experiência
de doença mental. No estudo em específico, será focada a integração comunitária a
nível educacional e profissional.
Neste sentido, trata-se de um estudo comparativo com o objetivo de compreender se
as capacidades das pessoas com problemáticas de saúde mental aumentam à medida que
estas pessoas se encontram mais integradas a nível educacional e profissional. O estudo
foi realizado com 134 utilizadores de serviços de saúde mental comunitária, que se
disponibilizaram para colaborar com esta investigação e o instrumento principal
utilizado é o QC-SMC – Questionário das Capacidades para o Contexto da Saúde
Mental Comunitária.
A partir da análise de dados, conclui-se que existem capacidades em específico que
representam um aumento quando comparadas com as pessoas com maior grau de
qualificação e com as pessoas inseridas profissionalmente. Pode-se afirmar, deste modo,
que a integração na comunidade em geral permite o aumento das capacidades das
pessoas com problemáticas de saúde mental, tal como é defendido pela literatura.
ABSTRACT: In this dissertation we intend to explore the capabilities approach in the mental health context, based on the capabilities described on the Nussbaum’s theoretical referential. It will be defended that those capabilities are within reach of every person, avoiding the discrimination and supporting the integration of persons with mental health experience. In this specific study, will be focused the community integration at educational and professional level. In this sense, this is a comparative study with the objective of understanding if the capabilities of persons with mental health problems increase with better integration at educational and professional level. The study was accomplished with the collaboration of 134 community mental health services users, which have accepted to participate on this investigation, and the main instrument used was the CQ-CMH – Capabilities Questionnaire for the Community Mental Health Context. Through the data analysis, we may conclude that exist an increase of the specific capacities on persons with mental health problems that have a greater level of qualification and a better professional integration. Thus, we may say, that the integration on the general community allows an increase of person’s capacities with mental health problems, as it is defended by the literature.
