Abstract(s)
Questionnaire, o Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents e o Self Perception Profile for Adolescents.
ABSTRACT: Adolescence is a very complex and significant period of development in an individual's life, with several changes occurring at biological, behavioural, and psychological levels, some of which relate to the quality of friendship, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. Several authors reveal that friendship is correlated to emotional regulation and self-esteem. Furthermore, studies indicate that young females have superior friendship qualities, there is no consensus on which gender has better emotional regulation and boys have better self-esteem. That said, the study focuses on understanding these variables, how they interact with each other and finding out if there are gender and age differences. Thus, a survey was applied to adolescents between 15 and 19 years old, where the Friendship Quality Questionnaire, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Childrens and Adolescents and the Self-Perception Profile for Adolescents were applied. As descriptive results of this work, friendship quality, emotional regulation and self-esteem are correlated, girls showed higher levels of friendship quality and younger adolescents showed higher levels of conflict and betrayal and problem-solving skills. Regression analyses revealed that emotional regulation is a mediator between the quality of friendship and self-esteem.
