Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: V Abstract The present study sought to investigate the role of social support in the resilience capacity of adult immigrants from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) in Portugal. Recognizing the perception of social support and its role in resilience, we hoped to understand the instances of this population, also depending on nationality (Brazilian vs. Portuguese-Speaking African Countries - PALOP) and the way in which responses to them are perceived in the context Portuguese. The sample consisted of 177 immigrants from the CPLP, aged between 18 and 72 years old. Data collection, carried out mainly online, was developed through a sociodemographic questionnaire preceded by two quantitative measurement instruments (1) Social Provisions Scale (SPS); (2) the Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA). The results revealed that Social Support plays a significant role in the perceived Resilience of the CPLP immigrant population in Portugal. In addition, that individual aspects such as nationality and migratory cause lead to different responses to Social Support and consequently to Resilience.
